About Eaves Editorial
Hi, I’m Rachel, the editor behind Eaves Editorial! I’m a copyeditor and proofreader of non-fiction.
My editorial career began in 2017, and since then, I’ve worked on over 200 books and publications. My background is varied and spans commercial fiction, non-fiction, and IT and tech publishing. Having such a diverse career means I’ve developed a sharp editorial eye and an awareness of what matters most to writers and businesses when working with a non-fiction editor. I focus on the details and polishing your text – but always maintain your style and your voice, and preserve your core message. Your work deserves to sound like you and to resonate with your audience.
Over the course of almost a decade in the industry, I’ve worked with independent authors, publishers, and businesses from around the world, including Penguin Random House, Thread Books, Hashtag Press, HarperCollins, Audible, Packt Publishing, and Hachette.
Eaves Editorial was established in 2026 as a dedicated editorial practice for non-fiction editing.

Advanced professional standards
I’m an advanced professional member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading, a non-profit promoting excellence in English-language editing. This is the highest level of membership that can be achieved. Editors have to go through a rigorous vetting process, proving many hours of experience and their credentials before being awarded this level.
Training and industry expertise
I stepped into editing full-time shortly after graduating with a degree in English and Creative Writing, gaining practical experience by spending several years editing textbooks for an IT company. I’ve completed copyediting training with the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading, and earned an in-depth proofreading qualification with The Publishing Training Centre.

Behind the name…
I carry out my editorial work from a loft conversion, tucked away above the rest of the house and near the remaining eaves, which is where the name of my non-fiction editing business came from! It’s quiet, with a lovely view of the birds and trees outside – the perfect place for concentrating on your text.
